Some relationships are meant to be - but why doesn’t your family understand? If you have been going with someone since kindergarten and grown up together and it feels so right, it must be right. To split up leaves a big gaping hole in your life that feels very wrong. Nobody can possibly understand what you are going through when you are so alone and isolated. "The Togetherness Routine" by Margaret Pearce was indeed a fun read. The characters were simply cute. The character: Gail, Kelvin Jackson, Garry, Allan Motterly (stepfather),Jill Barrow, Janey, Matt, Kate, Davina, Wendy, Libby and Leo. This author did a wonderful job with these people in this story. They were all very real.
Gails' parents had spoken to her of her grades that were not good and the fact that she at fourteen was head over heels (in love) with Kelvin. Gails' parents thought that this relationship should be broken up(even though they had been together for seven years, because she was to young to be involved with all of this now. Her parents thought she should spend her time with other people. The parents had left it to Gail to inform Kevin that this relationship should end but Gail said nothing to Kelvin, so the parents had to let Kelvin know that this relationship of being together all the time should stop. Gail thought this was the end of her life because it had always been the three of them (including her brother Garry) being together.
How was Gail able to make it by herself because she had no friends at school other than Kelvin and Garry? Gail had been with Kelvin since kindergarten and now at fourteen being told to split up was horrible for her. How could her parents be so mean about this? Gail thought that her stepfather (Allan) had no right with messing with her life and her mom always took his side. How this story plays out is good because in the end Gail will have some new friends. How does this all happen... well with the help of her stepbrother, Matt and that is all I am going to say on that. You will have to pick up this good read it yourself. You will read things like: You Don't Love Me, Why Me? Don't Take Any Notice, Its All Your Fault, Topsy-Turvy, and Of Course I'm Ready. When you have made it through this wonderful, cute, and short story read and I am sure you will have enjoyed it as much as I did.
In the end "The Togetherness Routine" has been open to different possibilities for Gail and she will not be alone, Now Gail was able to stand on her own feet, make friends, and make her own decisions. Wasn't this what her parents really
wanted for her?
The novel is wonderful especially for the young people and I would highly recommend this as a good read.

The Togetherness Routine edition by Margaret Pearce Children eBooks Reviews
I think that Ms. Pearce has done an outstanding job of capturing the characters in this book. I felt like Gail acted like a normal fourteen year old girl. I could see her point of view perfectly. I also thought that her mom and step father were looking out for her and I would have done something similar as a parent. I did like the dynamics with Kelvin and Garry. Such a fun book that had me laughing, getting misty eyed and just plain happy. I am still thinking about this story many days later. I think that Ms. Pearce should write book two as I would love to see how things play out for Gail. I would recommend this fantastic story that left me happy but wanting more.
